Characters: Ten, AnyOpen/Close: OpenRP Status: ActiveLocation: Paris, France, EarthDate: November 24th, 2014There were probably worse ways to spend a weekend, and the Doctor yawned a bit, glancing out over the rather pretty cityscape of France before him. Odd, that was. He could still pin Paris as a location to a companion in particular, just as he could pin Croyden and Brisbane did. And now, a small cafe in the middle of the busy Parisian streets reminded him of a certain time, a certain person, and he couldn't help but smile, just a bit. There was that, at least. He took a sip of his tea and eyed one of the chips on his plate a bit warily. He wished he'd had Rose there to explain the vinegar, she was always rather good at explaining silly human things like condiments when he was confused. He shrugged, taking a bite and then glancing at the paper. Neo-Nazism in the French presidency again. Maybe he should've vacationed elsewhere.OOC: Anyone who would like to have their pup just arrive and meet up with other pups for tea and chips---hop on in! =)
"Why yes," Sarah replies in a slightly startled tone, looking away from the window and up at the man. Then, she chuckles and grins, happy to meet another foreigner (if not finding the whole thing mighty coincidental). "Are you?"
"Oooooh, I'm from here and there," he says, still grinning rather madly at her, "One tends to feel more like a professional tourist than a citizen after a while."My, but she does seem so young. Doesn't have that heavy weight across her shoulders as she did the last time he saw her. Had being without him for so long changed her that much? Oh, but it doesn't matter. In this moment, at least, they are two intergalactic tourists meeting at a streetside cafe, of all places. He extends a hand, "Smith, uh, John Smith. Pleasure to meet you."
Beaming, she grips his hand in a firm shake. It's not often she meets another traveller when she's with the Doctor. No, more often than not, they're busy running for their lives or stopping some sort of madmen or......well, they're never just really sitting down for tea, after all. And look what happens when she does.Odd."Sarah Jane Smith," she says, tilting her head in a curious manner. "Quite possibly a professional tourist myself."
"Another Smith," he says, sliding into the chair next to her as though he's known her forever, "Suppose there are a bunch of us out there, though."He takes a sip of his tea, "Visiting here on business, then?"
Sarah smirks at that comment, thinking of another John Smith (well, at least, a sometimes-John-Smith) who she had misplaced a little while earlier."Pleasure, actually. I'm travelling with a friend." There's a pause as she glowers out the window. "Who I've seemed to have lost."
"Really? Well, of all the places to travel, I think France is a rather good...well, place. Indeed."He took a sip of his tea and shrugged, "I'm the same. No friend, not this time around, unfortunately."OOC: So sorry to have disappeared! Rough time IRL.
"What happened?" Sarah looks at him from behind her tea mug, eyes curious and concerned. "To cause you to travel alone, that is."[ooc: it's okay! i hope everything's alright.]
The Doctor paused for a moment, and a look of sadness crossed his face that he quickly suppressed."Lost my companion, a little while ago," he said, "Things aren't quite the same when you're apart."A sigh. A forced smile, "But still, France. Can't quite beat that, can we?"
"No, they aren't," Sarah says with another look otu the window. She sighs and turns her attention back to the man in front of her. "I don't know," she continues, taking a sip of her tea, "I could actually think of a few places that actually do beat Paris -- surprisingly."
"Do you now?" the Doctor asked, smirking a bit in her direction, "On this planet?"He said the last in the most completely-obviously-joking-tone he could pull off without actually laughing out loud.
"And just how daft do you think I am?" Sarah replies in a similar tone, smiling a little. "Other planets!"But that smile on her face is a dead give away of her lie.
"Right," the Doctor laughs a bit, shaking his head before turning and glancing up to the sky, "Still. Uncharted territories out there. Might be a nice place to travel for a while."He shrugged, "But still. Long way off, I think."
"Oh, I'd agree!" She smiles at the man, looking at him more closely. He seems so familiar."Who are you really, Mr. Smith?"
A different sort of smile slides across the Doctor's face this time. Companionable. Familiar."Oh, we'll meet properly in a few years, Sarah Jane," he said with a smile, "Wouldn't think to mess up the timelines just yet by an introduction too early."
Sarah blinks. "Will we?"
The Doctor puts a finger to his lips, "Yes, I think we will. S'all a matter of time, innit?"
She tilts her head, studying him closely again. "John Smith, eh?"
He shrugs, slipping back to his feet, "Rather common name, isn't it?"
She nods, looking at him suspiciously. "What about Doctor?"
He nods a bit, scooping up his coat, "I am a Doctor. You show off your investigative reporter skills quite well, Sarah."
"Not the Doctor by any chance too, are you?"
"The definitive article?" The grin on his face suggests quite easily that she's right."Whatever gives you that idea?"
"Just something about you seems very familiar," she answers with a soft grin as she watches him."Much like that friend I'm waiting for."
"Well, he'll probably be here any minute now, and I know that me being here'll just cause a good few questions I'm sure neither of us want to answer just yet."He extends a hand to her again, "Nice to meet you, Sarah Jane. I'll see you again in a few years time, yeah?"
Sarah smiles and shakes his hand firmly, suspicions mostly confirmed. "I do hope so."
